KMCares is an initiative that was established to ensure that no member of our community ever need feel alone.Unfortunately there we all go through times in life that we could use a little support, KMCares endeavours to provide services and care to all that need it.
KMCares offers the following services:
- The provision of Meals.
- A benevolent fund that can provide loans and at times financial gifts to individuals who have fallen on hard times.
- A professionals data base of a number of professionals in the community who are prepared to work pro-bono for needy individuals.
- A service where we attempt to source furniture and appliances for individuals who require them.
On Sunday14 June we held a Volunteering Expo in the community where representatives of six communal organisations and over 50 members of the community joined together to provide and seek out volunteering opportunities in the community. See the pictures from the highly successful event here.
The provision of Meals
Members of the community rally together and cook meals for families in the community who are experiencing short-term traumas; hospitalisations, deaths, childbirths etc. We prepare the meals in the shul kitchen and all are strictly kosher. When our stock supply starts running low we organise another cook-a-thon to resupply our freezers. If you know anyone in the community who is experiencing such a trauma or alternatively you would like to volunteer to help cook or deliver please email Hilary Simon at simonfam@bigpond.net.au or Rabbi Krebs at rabbi_gk@kehillatmasada.com.au.
The Rabbi's Benevolent Fund
The Rabbi operates a small benevolent fund whic provides loans and where possible gifts to people in need. The Rabbi meets with anyone who needs help and together they can brainstorm how KMCares can help both financially and otherwise. If you know of someone who needs help please ask them to contact Rabbi Krebs or alternatively if he can be in contact with them. Sourcing Furniture and Applicances
Whenever we are approached my someone who needs furniture or various appliances, we put the word out into the community and usually we are able to source good quality second hand goods.
